Projects
Capstone 2020
My undergraduate capstone project was a self-proposed underwater communications system. I worked with three outstanding team members to develop new materials, design antennas, build pressure a vessel, grind, weld, machine, wire and program the system. Our team averaged 32 hours a week for 2 semesters working to make this project a reality, and it paid off with our team winning first place for the College of Engineering.
RVASec Badges
This is a community project at HackRVA to build the embedded badges for the RVA Security Conference every year. I worked with PCB construction using photo lithography, programming the PIC32 microprocessor, and project management during my time on the project. I learned an immense amount from the lead engineer, Paul Bruggeman, who is an excellent mentor for young engineers.
Antennas
My Antenna research under the tutelage of Dr. Erdem Topsakal wasn't just a graduate experience; it was my hobby and brought the enthusiasm of loving my work to the lab every day. Each research project we worked on was of keen interest to me. This taught me to believe that if you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life.
Code Projects
I'm not a software developer, but I've written some code here and there (for work, school, and personal interests, or need to solve a problem). If you'd like to poke around at some of my work (not all of it pretty) you can find it on my Github https://github.com/jonathan46000
